By providing us with your information, you consent to our collection and use of the information you provide in the way(s) set out in this policy. If you do not agree to this policy, please do not use our website, social media or services.
When you give it to us directly – this could be when you register as a subscriber on our website have a free trial, respond to an open call, engage with our social media, leave your contact details when you visit us at an exhibition.
When you give permission to third party organisations to share it with us, for example if you sign up to receive updates test out our quizzes from Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn.
When you visit our website. Like most websites, we use “cookies” to help us make our site – and the way you use it – better. What information we collect about you
Personal information is any information that can be used to identify you. The type and quantity of information we collect, and how we use it, depends on why you are providing it, but we will only ever collect the information we need, including data that can help us to improve our services.
We collect two types of information from subscribers:
Non-personal information such as website pages accessed and files downloaded. This helps us to monitor how many people use our website, how many people visit on a regular basis, and how popular different pages are. This information doesn’t tell us anything about you, it simply allows us to monitor and improve our service.
Personal information which may include your name and contact details (postal and email address). We collect this information in connection with specific activities, such as newsletter requests, free trial requests, competition entries etc. You don’t have to disclose any information to us, however if you do choose to withhold requested information, we may not be able to provide you with certain services.

We take looking after your information very seriously and we ensure that there are appropriate technical controls in place to protect your personal details. For example, our online forms are always encrypted and our network is protected and routinely monitored. Unfortunately, information transmitted over the internet is never 100% secure, so while we do our best to try to protect the security of your information, we cannot guarantee that loss, misuse or alteration of data will not occur whilst data is being transferred.
The information we collect about you will mainly be used by our staff so that we can support you and provide you with the services you have requested. We undertake regular reviews of who has access to information that we hold to ensure that your information is only accessible by appropriately trained staff and contractors.
We will never sell or share your personal information with organisations so that they can contact you for any marketing activities.
We will sometimes share your information with our trusted suppliers and partners who work with us, deliver our services or process personal data on our behalf. We do comprehensive checks on these companies before we work with them and put a contract in place that sets out our expectations and requirements, especially regarding how they manage the personal data they collect or have access to.
Some of these suppliers run their operations outside the European Economic Area (EEA). For example, when you sign up to receive information from us, you will be added to our MailChimp list(s). MailChimp (registered in the US) process your data by collecting and storing the information you give us via our sign up forms in order for us to create and use distribution lists and send marketing and email campaigns. We will take steps to make sure all of our suppliers provide an adequate level of protection in accordance with data protection law. By submitting your personal information to us, you agree to this transfer, storing or processing at a location outside the EEA.
We may also need to disclose your details if required to the police, regulatory bodies or legal advisors. We will only ever share your data in other circumstances if we have your explicit and informed consent.
We will only keep your data for as long as we need to in order to operate the service which you have requested and for as long as required in accordance with legal requirements and tax and accounting rules. When your data is no longer needed, we will dispose of it in a secure manner.
Our policy for retention of ‘paid subscribers’ including free trial subscribers’ personal information is one year. We will re-request your consent to receiving updates from us every year to ensure our contact lists are up to date and that you are still happy to hear from us. If you do not respond to our request, you will be removed from our mailing list(s), however, you are able to sign up again at any time via our website.
You have various rights under the data protection act and the EU General Data Protection Regulations in respect of the personal information we hold about you – these are set out in more detail below. If we become aware that there has been a security breach, for example, the accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration or unauthorised disclosure of somebody’s personal data, we will report this to the relevant supervisory authority within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach.
If the breach is likely to cause adverse effects to the individual whose data has been breached, we will also notify that individual as soon as possible.
